She likes to hit first and ask questions later. I'm thinking the beat-up is a result of Buffy wanting a smack-down instead of a talk. The crying would obviously be after the reveal and the reveal is likely after the fight.

But, I almost wonder if a betrayal of herself is going to be coming here. The blow to her "moral certainty" has to be coming. The reveal will likely make her look both at herself and what she assumed of Twilight in a new way.

People certainly noted that Always Darkest opened up in the same church that the knock-down brawl takes place and there was the bit about Twilight breaking off part of a church roof and "church[ing her]". This would make that dream into a pretty specific prophetic Slayer dream (Angel in a church with her feeling betrayed). I'll go a step further: Always Darkest may even mean that Spike is on Angel's side and working with him. Caleb's appearance as a preacher, IMO, was just a sign of the church setting. The other dream in After These Messages... We'll Be Right Back was another prophetic dream to remind her of her feelings for Angel, as well as advice on how to deal with future information.

We must remember that Buffy's dreams aren't regular dreams. They're prophetic.

As for the people wondering about Spike, IMO, I think we've already seen the answer.

Actually, I wonder if it was Spike who took out Ethan Rayne (or he knew of both vampires teaming up). It would explain Ethan trying to hint at Spike's identity.
This means Angel thinks he's good and doesn't apologize for doing evil acts. Buffy's betrayal comes from seeing what she thought was the love of her life is really her greatest enemy. Angel may indeed have his reasons for doing what he does...but this still doesn't make a wrong "right".

Sticking knives into Willow's brain is not only horrible but if this was done on orders from Angel...regardless of the reasoning behind it means it's Angel who crossed the line. Not Buffy. There's another metaphor about that "churching" Buffy scene. Men are the ones in charge of religious institutions and are capable of cloaking evil in the garb of "doing the right thing". It's Caleb logic. Remember the panel showing Buffy skewered by the Dragon in that dream? She's in the Christ crucifixion pose. Just like Christ was executed by his own people...the implication is Buffy will be betrayed by her own people who turn her over for death.

Buffy saying "kay" to General Voll who announced Buffy was against the world was a Buffy who knows her enemies have the upper hand in public relations. Something Buffy never had to deal with. People are capable of following anybody's orders if the lie is skillful enough...even bad ones.

The font type change in Angel's voice indicates he's merged with The First for reasons as yet unexplained. It's the only explanation right now that can justify Angel's new powers. The First has given Angel free reign to these powers in exchange for something in return...destroying the Slayer line and magic forever. Twilight may even convince the Slayers that Buffy is the danger. She is the "enemy". I can see Faith following this line. Even Giles. Who will be on Buffy's side in all this? I think it could be Willow. Remember what Joss said about this season. He said this was "their story". This is my theory.

Hmmm, hrrooom, hasty folks.

The reason for telling the story is -- to find out what the story is. Especially where Whedon is concerned -- how many times has he overturned all the anxious speculation & posturing of the fans . . . ?
