  • “The Crown”, “Victoria”, “Ekaterina”, “Versailles”, and “Medici” do you watch any?

    * I consider the acting and ‘production values’ in The Crown ( https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4786824/?ref_=nv_sr_7 ) are better than in Victoria ( https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5137338/?ref_=nv_sr_1 ), but Victoria is a much better series simply given how much more consequential Queen Victoria is to world history than Elizabeth II is.

Ekaterina ( https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4231140/?ref_=nv_sr_1 ) has arguably the best production values of any of these series, but Season 2 isn’t as good as Season 1.

Versailles ( https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3830558/?ref_=nv_sr_3 ) is somehow the worst series in terms of acting, writing, and storytelling.

I’ve only seen Medici: Masters of Florence , as Season 2 wasn’t on NetFlix yet. It’s also great, albeit it strays a little from history.

    * Vikings and The Last Kingdom seem to get a lot of attention, but the above series are overall better. I would have much preferred Vikings stayed with Rollo given he’s a very significant historical figure. The Last Kingdom focused on a non-historical character.

The Crown and Medici are on Netflix. The first 2 seasons of Versailles are on NetFlix. Victoria and Ekaterina are on Amazon Prime.

The Crown is really well made. Not seen Victoria, but reviews have been mixed at best. Kinda wish they'd (and by they I mean HBO/SHO/AMC/Netflix/anyone other than CW or Freeform) make an Elizabeth I series. Agree on Versailles. Barely made it thru the pilot. Trailer for Ekaterina was enough for moi. Only seen pilot of Last Kingdom & trailers for Vikings.

I've never watched this show and have no interest in it, but Olivia Colman is a national treasure and everything she does is great.
