  • Buffy/Angel episode order

Hey everyone. I have a question about the correct viewing order for Buffy and Angel in order to get the correct crossover episodes. I just got the Buffy and Angel dvd sets for Christmas, and I just finished season 4 of Buffy and 1 of Angel. For these two seasons, I just alternated back and forth between Buffy and Angel, and from what I've read, that's what should also be done for Buffy season 5 and Angel season 2. But my question is, when I get to Buffy 6/Angel 3 and Buffy 7/Angel 4, is there an established correct order? I've been trying to look around for one and have come up with many different orders that people are listing. I found the order in which the shows were aired here on wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...Angel_episodes But will this order work since they were airing on different networks. Once again, this is the first time I am watching through these shows, so no spoilers please .

Just watching them as broadcast won't necessarily work after they're on different networks. This Crossover Guide is pretty good. YMMV.

I agree w/Amuk - that's a very useful Crossover Guide. I started watching Buffy in that order and have enjoyed the experience better than watching them as they were aired on TV.

I have only watched Angels Season 1 - 3, and caught some of 4 on tv. Then when I rewatched the series in the summer I was all set on watching Buffy and Angel at the same time so it was correct and all that. Unfortunately, because there were so many different ones I didn't know which one to use. Is this crossover guide reliable, becuase I restarted watching the show again last night, and I want to follow it chronologically this time.

Technically, Birthday happened on May 22, so Birthday and on is all way past the end of Grave and season 6.

I don´t see Buffy/Angel simultaneously. I have a pretty good recollection of the events of both shows, so I think it´s okay to see them separately.

I am almost done going trhough the two series with a first-timer using that guide with very little by way of deviation and it's worked quite well. I like it mainly because it prevents undue spoiling of one show by the other.

              Spoiler:
i.e., it has you watch Willow getting a call to go to LA (BtVS S7) after she's already come to LA to re-ensoul Angel (Ats S4)

                That's an excellent guide.

Nile, how do you know the exact date, is it said in the episode?

That's a good question. That date isn't mentioned in the episode, I can't find any canonical source stating that's Cordelia's birthday, and that episode broadcast in January, so a "real time" of late May seems unlikely -- the Buffyverse rarely gets that far out of whack with the real world (absent outside events causing broadcast delays).

Cordelia says her birth date in The Prodigal when she's plugging in the alarm system code and Angel doesn't know her birthday. The code is 0522, which means her birthday is May 22, 1981.

Tara's death date is given as May 7, 2002 and the next 3 episodes take place in 2 days (ending the next day). This means that Birthday and on is all post-Grave. Don't worry, though. While the last half of season three happens quickly through May/June, Angel still spends 3 months of summer under the sea when he is raised in October (and season 4 AtS started airing in October). Season 7 BtVS obviously starts at the start of the new school year in September.

Lilah's W&H clearance code (Dad) is 0112773, which is also clearly a birth date (November 27, 1973). (Is that sad that I didn't even have to look that up?)

Cool. I always missed that before. Thanks!

Whoa. Thou shalt bear the Crown of Nerds, Nile.
Maybe we should make some kind of exact timeline thread or so.

Wow. Now I feel unsmart. xd Great work figuring out those dates Nile. And as for that exact timeline thing if it ever went into anything I could help supply some dates. The old magazine had released a timeline for the show a long time ago that was pretty acurate to the month and some dates if I remember correctly. Again though, awesome work!

It's still a work in process with practically any material I can get my hands on, canon or any non-canon that doesn't screw with canon, and I'm still fiddling (I haven't figured out what to do with season 8 in regards to how close AtF is, yet--so it's still situated to match with Casino Royale), but knock yourself out:

I went with the rule that episodes are filmed usually at least 5 episodes ahead for Harmony Bites, though reality shows are usually filmed the summer/fall before they air. I'm still trying to figure that one out.
