  • BF BOOK CLUB: Updates & Announcements

Lyn was kind enough to allow us to open this book club. It is open to anyone who wants to read and discuss books.

The set-up will work like this:

Every two weeks a new book will be selected for reading and discussion. A thread will be opened for the new book at that time. The thread will remain open for 4 weeks to allow for discussion. In this way, there will always be two books open for discussion at a time (except for the first one). I will update this post every so often with upcoming readings.

Please do not post anything in this thread - it will only be for updates and upcoming readings.

Thanks for the interest, and I hope to be discussing some great literature with you all soon!

    CURRENT BOOKS:

The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexander Dumas
    Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte

    UPCOMING READINGS:

    PREVIOUSLY READ & DISCUSSED BOOKS:
    Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte

So I went to the library yesterday and picked up several classics that I'll be reading in the next several weeks. I thought it only fair to put to a vote as to which you all would like to discuss next. So I will list the books here, and if you would pm me your top three choices in order in the next couple of days, I will post the next book for our next discussion.

    The possibilites are:

Little Women by Louisa May Allcott
    Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte
    David Copperfield by Charles Dickens
A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens
Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoyevsky
The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexander Dumas
The Three Musketeers by Alexander Dumas
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
Tender is the Night by F. Scott Fitzgerald
East of Eden by John Steinbeck
The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck

Like I said, I will be reading all of these over the next several weeks, so I'd be happy to discuss any and all of them. Please PM me your top three choices and I'll post the results in this thread in a few days time. Thanks!

thanks for posting your opinions guys, but if you could pm me your picks, that be preferable as I don't want to bog this thread down with replies - I intend it to be for updates only....

Ok, so the votes are in. Our next book that will be up for discussion will be The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexander Dumas. If you all want to go and find a copy, I'll be opening the discussion thread on Wednesday.

For our quick readers, our runner up book is Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte. That book will be up for discussion in approximately two weeks time, after Jane Eyre had closed.
