    • What do mean exactly?

      If you go to Nikki's site I believe she has a full tutorial on setting up coding for your whole site.

      • Hello again! I wasn't sure whether to put this in the graphics thread or this one. I downloaded a free layout from Dana's website to host on my own with the proper credit to be displayed of course once the site is up and ready. But I am having a problem when I go to change the name from Your Site Name Here in the banner image on the PSD file. It won't let me. It lets me delete the layer, but not make changes to the text on it... Does anyone have any suggestions?

        I use the GIMP btw might thath ave somethign to do with it?

        This is my site so far by the way

          Could it have something to do with that font being used in the premade layout not being installed on your computer?

          I would think you would still be able to change the text whether you have that font or not. But I thought I would bring it up just in case.

          • You should be able to change to font even if you don't have it installed (if I remember correctly) should just get an error of some sort that you don't have that font (at least that has been my experience in PS). If you want me to change it for you and send you the layout with your site name on it, I'd be happy to.

            (I checked it in PS and I can still touch it.. perhaps it has something to do with you using gimp.. does it support psd files? *tired and confused* <- so might be a stupid question )

            • I'm sure Dana wouldn't mind if you can't change it.. the next best thing is to delete the layer then type in the site name yourself on a whole new layer. Just select the same colour so it matches the layout style

                Right you are. As long as the credit still stands I don't mind if the text layer is altered or removed so that another can be added

                • Hey I looked about and found that while The Gimp can display the different layers used to make up an image it does not allow for you to edit the text, but simply displays it. Dana could you possibly tell me the orignal text that was used and the size so that I could delete the orignal layer and change the name.

                  Of course I intend on still having the credit remaining lol

                    Ugh, evil gimp! *slaps it with a baguette*
                    The text is written in "Ringbearer" font, 30pt, colored in #f1e47f with a black outlining at the amount of 1px around the entire text

                      • So here I am trying to update my site with a new layout and it is working awesomely in IE...but then I test it in Firefox and everything is is shifted to the left...like to the point of part of the stuff being not even being able to be seen.

                        Code:
                        body {
                         background:#eee0ba;
                         color:#b0a2af;
                         font-family:'Trebuchet MS';
                         font-size:11px;
                         letter-spacing:1px;
                         line-height:16px;
                         float: left;
                         }

                        #layout {
                         width:1280px;
                         float:left;
                         background:url('bg.jpg') repeat-y;
                         }

                        • Well, you've got everything set to float: left;

                          If you want to have your layout centered try this:

                          body { text-align : center;}
                          delete float: left, it's not needed for anything.

                          #layout {text-align: left}
                          delete float: left again

                          if it doesn't work, then upload your files and let me look at the html.
                          Also install Firebug in Firefox. Very, very handy

                          Also,
                          font-family:'Trebuchet MS';
                          needs something behind it. Like arial, verdana...
                          Trebuchet MS is not supported by all browsers, which is why you have rightly put it between ' '.
                          If a browser doesn't have it, it will portray Times New Roman...

                              I actually use to put the header into it's own div layer so that I could move it to where ever my background lines up. That way all I had to do is tell it to move to the left/right so many pixels. Now however, I just add it into my CSS file, that way I can keep all my layout info in one place

                              For example in my CSS file this is what I have:

                              #layout {
                              position: absolute;
                              width:950px;
                              left:61px;
                              top: 0px;
                              }

                              But, like I said just adding a div layer into your coding for the header only, use to work just fine for me....and if I am explaining this badly I apologize in advance, my mind is completely zoning today

                              • I don't know why but it moves my whole layout then :S not just my background my header too
