  • The Banner/icon meme challenge.

Hello and welcome to the meme challenge. This is where you can get prompt to inspire throughout your artwork. This thread is specifically for banner/icons art basically smaller graphics. The meme challenge will consist of these questions, answer them the best of your creative abilities. There is a deadline for these set of memes/challenges because I would love for us as an art community to let someone else continue with their own specific sets of desired questions, if not I would just continue creating the lists of questions depending on the activity.

"If people wish to do icons you can do more than one if you wish, for example, you could answer the question within a set of icons not just only one."

Ok, here are my efforts, hope I've done this right . . .

My best mood is Joy, personified by Cordy who is the happiest character with the biggest smile

The most inspiring moment is Buffy rising to her feet and telling The First to get out of her face

The most heroic moment is Buffy, 16 years old, facing The Master, knowing she was going to die

Okay, so everyone knows that I'm mostly doing icons now when it comes to fanart, but these challenge intrigued me. Originally, I was just going to do icons for each of the themes, but for specific emotion-based themes like these, it's hard to convey meaning in a 100x100 pixel square. Maybe in future challenges, I'll do more icons.

1/3 Best Mood - Buffy and Dawn, Pride

I know, it's a weird choice for a mood, but I've always loved how proud Buffy was of Dawn, how much joy she finds in her sister, the love she has for her. So I chose this scene, where she stops seeing Dawn as a child, someone she needs to protect, and starts to see her as someone who can be her strength, her ally, her partner.

2/3 Best Inspiring moment - Just a Girl

I think this is what a lot of people forget when it comes to the Slayer - Buffy is (or was) just a girl. She was a innocent child before she was plucked from obscurity and made to kill things. She could have walked away multiple times, she has the strength to over-power anyone, and yet, she stays and fights because she knows it's the right thing to do.

3/3 Best Heroic Moment - The Gift

For me, there's nothing more powerful or heroic than sacrificing yourself to save someone else.

Lyri your banners are great, but I have to say I adore your Buffy icons. The colours are beautiful and you've captured the essence of the character.

          Your best Mood. [1/3]

          Dark.
Her mood in season six is so haunting and 'disoriented' I absolutely love how Buffy stares gazes aimlessly at nothing. I tried to make icons.

          Until next time!

Thank you so much. Like I said, I've been so focused on icons over the past few years, sometimes I think I've forgotten how to actually make 'normal' art, so when I see challenges like this, I always try to enter and test myself. Plus, my website is getting a little bit neglected, lmao, there's only so many of the icons I make that I actually upload there. It'll be nice to have some new pieces to add. Not that I think anyone's still visiting, but hey, my host's still keeping the lights on, so I'll keep updating!!

Looking forward to the next challenge!!

Okay, so this is my first fanart challenge I've ever done! So exciting!

                      So,

                      Your Best Mood 1/3

I chose Grief as a mood, and so I obviously chose 'The Body'.

                      The Best Inspiring Moment 2/3

As a Spuffy fan through and through, I tried to portray Spike's speech in Touched as I always find it so inspiring, it's one of my most favourite Spuffy moments. It took me a long time to do this, as things just kept going wrong, so I thought about that specific moment, when Spike is telling Buffy she's the one, and the journey they've gone through since they first met. I felt like this scene was the light at the end of a very dark Spuffy tunnel, hence the tunnel in the background. My blending could definitely be a bit better, but I really didn't want to start again from scratch.

And finally, I'm still in the process of doing the third challenge, but because the two most heroic (IMO) moments have been taken (I didn't want to do the same one,) I've been thinking a lot of which moment to do. So...watch this space.

It can often be really interesting seeing how people visualise the same moment/theme so I don't think that you should feel like you have to do a different moment!

Loving what everyone has done so far and still hoping that I'll be able to do at least one before the closing date.

                            Finally finished my third entry,

                            The Best Heroic Moment 3/3

I think Prophecy Girl is the best heroic moment, because although she does sacrifice herself again in The Gift, she knew that going to fight The Master would lead to her death, but she went anyway when she was only sixteen years old. Not keen on this banner, I have so much to learn but I wanted to complete the challenge.

So... I did some using the comics, I don't know if it's allowed...

                              Your best inspiring moment. [2/3]

Buffy fighting superpowered Joanna Wise, Season 11:

                              The best heroic moment. [3/3]

The Scoobies are always having heroic moments, so I decided for Fake Anya, Season 10:

Hi you all, stunning banners have been posted here already. So I wanted to make something as well, sadly enough banners are not my forte. And making something with the (often limited) BtVS/Ats screencaps is even worse for me. So, bear with me and my cheating.

My favorite mood in the whole Buffyverse is Cordelia's serenity in her final episode. We're talking here about a very young woman who gave everything for the good fight and in return she got horribly abused by the gods. And still, she's not bitter for a minute when she gets one last day on earth. She uses those last few hours to fight the good fight, to help her friends and enjoy everything that made her life worth it. Usually it would make sense to use caps of that last scene, but it didn't work out for me. So I made a banner that has little to do with mood, but I enter it anyway because I made it for this challenge.

                                Your best Mood. [1/3]

Credits: Daydreaming, Zugma, Black Lagoon, David Holland

Now I'm looking at it, it could fit the other themes as well. But I made it for mood, so here you go.

My second banner is super simple, but in the end this scene is about the text and not about Kate and Angel sitting on a bench.

                                  Your best inspiring moment. [2/3]

I think this conversation marks two inspirational events:

                                  1) The first event is rather obvious. Angel had an epiphany and finally found his motivation to fight. I like what he came up with a lot, it's by far the most philosophical motivation a character came up with in de 'verse. It's also one that can be applied to our lives and world. His whole mini speech:

Well, I guess I kinda worked it out. If there's no great glorious end to all this, if nothing we do matters... , then all that matters is what we do. 'Cause that's all there is. What we do. Now. Today. I fought for so long, for redemption, for a reward, and finally just to beat the other guy, but I never got it. [...] Not all of it. All I wanna do is help. I wanna help because, I don't think people should suffer as they do. Because, if there's no bigger meaning, then the smallest act of kindness is the greatest thing in the world.

                                  2) The second event is that this epiphany marks the end of more than 100 years of depression. I'm pretty sure that Liam was already depressed as a human and that his depression came back with the soul. Of course he experienced positive moments in the past, but the real change happened after Epiphany IMO. An episode which is basically the second part of Reprise, the episode where Angel tries to commit suicide. These two episodes change the game. Angel falls a bit back in season 5, but even then he is not nearly as gloomy and depressed-looking as he was in BtVS or Ats season 1/first half of season 2. The Angel we see in season 3 and 4 is more certain of himself, optimistic and less inclined to punish himself for things he can't help. The confrontation with Holtz is probably the best example of his mental health improving. And in my opinion it's extremely impressive that Angel after all those years finds the way back to a healthier state of mind.

Like I said, very simple. But it shoud be about the text and a banner simply requires a 'less is more'-approach.

                                  credits: IMDB, Daydreaming & Pixeden.

                                    Your best Mood. [1/3]

OK, this is a homage () to my beloved Christos Gage, who said in an interview how he thinks readers would react to The Reckoning:

I have no idea, I just hope they like it. I know there will be things that make some people furious, and hopefully other things people will like. As for how the outcome will affect the Buffyverse, that’s why we make the books… you gotta read ‘em to find out!

Since I'm already furious... my best Mood is Angry:

                                      And the third entry:

                                      The best heroic moment. [3/3]

For me it was between Prophecy Girl and Not Fade Away. Both episodes have a rather similar theme in the end. Both team Angel and Buffy made the decision to go on a mission despite knowing that it will cost them their lives. Eventually I went with PG because of Buffy's age at the time, plus she went alone.

credits: Daydreaming, mcapraro, imdb and a stock of a forest I once saved without credits *sorry*.

                                        Your best inspiring moment. [2/3]

I had this idea of making Buffy go through a field, for example, her journey throughout season six on how she lost her self through her depression. That at the end of season six she does finally realize that the world is beautiful.

I cheated I thought this banner looked lonesome it needed something else. I feel now it has a better flow within the Tumblr size graphics.

Hope you guys like! Just another week for the deadline.
