  • How very frustrating for her! I am glad you were able to post for help. What's her username? I should be able to activate her account.

It is best to start a new thread and link to the old one for those who can still enter it. I created one here. Nina, you can edit it any way you wish.
I've been snooping around this thread just for curiosity's sake and couldn't resist giving said problematic thread a shot. Instantly upon clicking the hyperlink in the new version I received the following screen which surprised me since supposedly it is antivirus software that responded with alert to it and I'm on a Mac. Macs are immune to viruses though are susceptible to limited forms of malware. Or so I've heard. My aim was to expand the knowledge of this problem to Macs so here you have it.

PuckRobin I'm glad your friend's login issue was quickly resolved and that she knew someone who could inquire on her behalf. I can't tell you how many times I've needed a reminder of an older username or have had issues retrieving a password on websites that had me digging around for a method of contacting a staff member that didn't require one to be logged in. Real convenient when the issue is that you can't login right? Fortunately it seems Buffyforms as an easy access 'Contact Us' form that shouldn't require one to be logged in but just the same I find your friend fortunate to have had someone on the inside.

          • Admins, would you consider enabling RSS (Really Simple Syndication) for BuffyForums? It would greatly help the Sunnydale Herald Newsletter promote this site!

Over here are details on how we think the setting can be switched on.

Oh yes, I completely second this! It would be great for the forum and allow it to be more easily publicised in the Herald.

              • I second that too! I hope it's possible to do it.

                • Hi
Hmm I don't know. How has the site been in performance lately? I sometimes still get quite some error mails. Would it actually be good if the forum got promoted?
But since I'm kinda absent (sorry!) I don't know the actual state of performance.
                  Any ideas?

                  • Hi Last time I checked the home page was very out of date but otherwise I've not noticed anything that would mean we shouldn't look to get more people. Being able to better promote the fanart for example might draw people in. I don't know but it would be great to have more activity again.

                    • Okay
Yes, the homepage was made by Nikki in.. 2011? Very very outdated. I don't think I can do anything about that.

I did have a look at the forum software and it's at version 4.2, the latest is 4.5, so that's not that big a difference I think. But if someone knows more about the current forum upgrades, then let me know. I feared we would be major versions behind, like it'd be at 6.5 or something, but that's not the case

Also, I switched it on, the RSS feed. Good luck with it

                      • It looks like the RSS feature isn't working for the fanart section.. but I can't find out why...
Is it really not working for that? Please let me know if you have any idea why
The settings for the forum were made by Nikki in 2007 I think.. And maybe updated at some point, but I have no idea.

                        • I think it is because the fan art section has been set to private again a while ago:

                          http://www.buffyforums.net/forums/sh...longer-private

This of course also makes it quite difficult to actually promote the fan art as Stoney suggested. Personally I am very much in favour of making the fan art section public again. Also because the original reasons for making it private don't seem to be so relevant anymore and in fact, none of the current users seems to mind it being public.

                          • I agree it is probably the privacy setting on that section. This is something Nina discussed with us when it was picked up on that it was public. Like DD I remember it being something that didn't concern most people so perhaps the option of promoting the section and getting more interest outweighs the issues of it not being private?? It's perhaps something to raise again on the fanart thread now that the RSS feature is operational.

                            • Hmmm maybe we should make a poll. As Ehlwyen has just set it to private 3 months ago...
I'm not going to just revoke that. Should we see what the people think?

                              • Thank you so much for switching the RSS feed on, and I'd definitely vote to make the art section public
